A dear friend lies dying
he knows it as do
I, this might be my
last visit, we talk of
many things but never mention
death, I ask if he
has retired to bed early
or else late to rise,
both knowing he is bedridden,
my dear friend lies dying.

Many thanks VJ. It is a sad time watching a very close friend of over forty years slide away and only two years after his equally loved, dear spouse too.
